Obituary
Kenneth Jay Nield
January 11th, 1958 - September 3rd, 2025
Kenny Jay Nield, 67, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away at his home on September 3, 2025.
He was born on January 11, 1958, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Jay and Blanche (McMurtrey) Nield. Born premature, Kenny was so small he could fit into his father’s hands, yet from the very beginning he showed a determined spirit, fighting to be in this world. He attended Idaho Falls High School, where he especially enjoyed playing the trumpet in the jazz band, an experience that brought him much joy.
Kenny married Lisa Denise (Holverson) Nield on April 18, 1981, in Idaho Falls. They shared 44 years of marriage, building a life together having five children, centered on family, love, and shared adventures.
Kenny owned a masonry company and took pride in teaching his children the trade from a young age. All of his sons continued to work in the trade, carrying on the skills and values he instilled.
He enjoyed the outdoors including motorcycles, fishing, painting cars, hunting, and, in his youth, running cross country. Throughout his life, he was passionate about reading, coaching, parenting, camping, snow-machining, and skiing.
He is survived by his wife; his children, Joe Holverson of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Mike Nield of Anchorage, Alaska; Brandy (Brandon) Wisdom of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Tyson (Natalie Clifford) Nield of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Tiffany (Vitino Brugetti) Nield of Idaho Falls, Idaho; siblings, Karen (Russ) Bass, Terry Livingston, Barry (Karen) Nield, Julie Knowlton, Joni (Dave Broussard) Gallagher, Kathy (Doug) Halbrook, Becky Nield, Scott Nield, and Amy (Mike) Wheeler; 17 grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and too many cousins to count.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Blanche Nield; brothers, Mike Allen Nield and Kevin Nield; grandson, Rocky Wisdom; niece, April Kay Wilde; nephews, Sam Bass and Don Montague; and his parents-in-law, Don and Virgie Holverson.
Memorial services will be held 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends and family Friday, September 19, 2025, from 6:30-8 p.m. and Saturday 4- 4:45 p.m. prior to the service. Both visitations will be at Wood Funeral Home.
