Louie “Lou” Weber

Louie Leroy “Lou” Weber or “Papa Lou” was born April 26, 1936, in Goodrich, North Dakota, to Paul and Emma Weber. He passed away peacefully during the early morning hours of December 31, 2025, at the age of 89 years old. His loving wife of 66 years, Eunice Agnes Weber, was sitting by his side.

Lou was the youngest of six siblings (Aloys, Loretta, James, Betty (Elizabeth), Emaline, then Lou). Eunice and Lou met in June of 1959 on a blind date near Esmond, North Dakota. They were married in the St. Boniface Catholic Church, in Esmond, North Dakota, on December 28, 1959. Together, Eunice and Lou had six children: Aaron, Naomi, Dane, Todd, Craig, and Kerry.

Lou was in the National Guard from September of 1955, to September of 1962. In 1963, Eunice and Lou moved to Billings, Montana, where Lou started working for Massey Ferguson. In 1970, the family moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Lou continued working for Massey Ferguson until 1989, when the company went out of business. He then began working for the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) in 1991, and left in 1998, when he took an early retirement. After retirement, when he wasn’t spending time with his kids or grandkids, Lou spent many hours refurbishing tractors and then selling them. Lou found great joy and pride in harnessing his pony teams and driving them around. All of his grandchildren and great grandchildren have fond memories of driving pony teams around the neighborhood with Papa Lou. Lou was also a member of the Intermountain Draft Horse and Mule Association (IDHMA) for many years. He was also a member of the Knights of the Columbus. However, if you ask anyone that knew Lou well enough, they would tell you that his favorite and most-practiced hobby by far was telling fibs or stories that would send anyone listening into a fit of instant laughter. Granny Eunice always said “if Papa’s lips are moving, he’s probably telling stories!”

Louis is preceded in death by both his parents, Emma and Paul; all five of his siblings, Aloys, Loretta, James, Betty, and Emaline, and his son, Craig.

Louis is survived by his wife, Eunice Weber of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Aaron Weber of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Naomi (Marc) Leblanc of Rigby, ID; son, Dane (Christine) Weber of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Todd (Tammy) Weber of Idaho Falls, ID; and son, Kerry Weber of Idaho Falls, ID; as well as 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 12 Noon Friday, January 9, 2026, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1690 E. 17th Street, with Father Aleksander leading the service and mass. A Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, with a viewing to follow until 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery where Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.

In honor of Lou and the life he lived, the family would like to invite guests to wear their favorite western attire.
