Obituary Marianne Virgin
August 23rd, 1973 - June 9th, 2023
Marianne Virgin, beloved mother to Maddie, loving daughter of Dave and Marilyn Barbo, caring sister to Mike and Callie Barbo and Julie and Ryan Peterson. She is the fun aunt to Logan, Austin, and Alyssa Peterson, Jade, Cutter and Ellie Barbo.
Marianne was born August 23rd, 1973 in Logan, Utah and passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on June 9th, 2023 in Idaho Falls.
She was always an exceptional student- graduating from Rigby High School, Ricks College, and Idaho State University. She was a beautiful dancer from a very young age and continued ballroom dancing at Rigby High School, Ricks College and then teaching ballroom at Bonneville High School for several years. Music was an important part of her life. She took piano lessons for many years under the loving teaching of Dollie McKenzie and blessed many with her music through her membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as a primary pianist and later on served faithfully in the Young Women’s program for many years.
Marianne began teaching elementary school 10 years ago, with the first nine years at Tiebreaker Elementary in Idaho Falls and the last year at Bridgewater Elementary with her good friend and teaching buddy, Kathy Isom. She was an exceptional teacher who enjoyed teaching math and exhibited love, care and concern for all of her students. She was so excited when her students caught the same love.
Marianne’s first and foremost love and total devotion was for her daughter Maddie. Every decision, every day, was Maddie first and always. They were best friends and loved traveling and being together. Disneyland and the Dodger games were their favorite destinations.
Her passing has left a huge hole in all our hearts, yet we know she will always be near continuing to love, guide, and protect.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 15th, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lincoln 6th Ward 3102 Pinnacle Dr., Idaho Falls, Idaho 83401. The family will visit with friends at the Church Wednesday Evening June 14th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday June 15th from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Services are under the direction of Eckersell Funeral Home, 101 West Main Street, Rigby, Idaho 83442.
