Obituary
Patsy Thomas
February 9th, 1937 - April 13th, 2025
Patsy J. Thomas was born in Idaho Falls, on February 9, 1937, and passed without pain and peacefully on Palm Sunday, April 13, 2025. Patsy was a believer and our good Lord, along with grammy and grandad showed her the path to heaven, where she is smiling down on us today.
Mom’s parents were David Kenneth Thomas and Carolyn Frances Merchant Thomas. Patsy loved her parents so much.
Patsy grew up in Shelly, Idaho. Patsy went to Utah State University and graduated with a degree in Education and went on to teach school at several private institutions. Patsy’s pursuit of learning and education continued as she achieved a master’s degree at Cal Poly and was voted by her professors “student of the year”. What an achievement, and mom was so humble about it.
Patsy was an avid reader, and enjoyed daily visits from her family, and the amazing care takers and staff at her home at the Fairwinds. Patsy was an amazing quilter and jewelry maker. Her work was beyond professional, and we are so lucky that she desired and has asked for us all to carry forward her amazing creations to remember and enjoy. These will be available to you when we have mom’s celebration of life this summer in Island Park.
Patsy was a role model every day until she passed. She always showed compassion, patience, and understanding without judgement. Most importantly mom showed and taught LOVE. It is difficult to describe LOVE, it is simply something that someone shows or teaches you. It is a feeling that is not describable. Mom’s love was unconditional and inspiring. Mom defines the meaning of LOVE, the most important part of LIFE.
Patsy is survived by her her brother, Gary Thomas; daughter, Jennifer Giboney; son, Jeff Giboney; daughter-in-law, Colleen Giboney; daughter, Kelly O’neill; grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle, and Sean; aunt, Cindy; and the Thomas boys, Courtney, BJ, Tim, Josh, Mark and Scott.
A celebration of life will be held later this summer in Island Park.
