Rebecca Ann Hiett, 74, of Ammon, passed away March 2, 2026, at Lincoln Court Retirement Community. She was under the care of Eden Home Health and Hospice and her loving family.

Rebecca was born August 17, 1951, in Columbia, South Carolina, to Donald Emil Zieg and Evelyn Marie Kindler Zieg. She was a military kid and attended schools in Germany, Fort Slocum, New York, and Denver, Colorado, and graduated from Colorado State University where she earned her Master’s Degree in art and education. Rebecca worked for over thirty years as a teacher and educational counselor for the Cherry Creek School District in Colorado and District 91 in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

On October 4, 1986, she married Steven Blake Hiett in Denver, Colorado. Rebecca and Steve eventually made their home in Ammon, Idaho.

She was previously a member of the Smokey Hill Baptist Church in Centennial, Colorado. She enjoyed performing and being part of set design for community theater, including Idaho Falls Opera Theater, Sounds Choir and Empire Lyric Players in Denver, Colorado. She also enjoyed musical choir and performed with the Chorale of Eastern Idaho and Anam Cara. She was a gymnast and later a cheerleader at Colorado State University. After graduation, she traveled extensively in Europe and loved to travel.

Rebecca is survived by her husband, Steve Hiett of Ammon, ID; daughter, Lindsay Ann (George) Takacs; and daughter, Lauren Mae Hiett.

She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Zieg; mother, Evelyn Zieg, and sister, Connie Goodner.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 12-2 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Empire Lyric Players or the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
