Sam Prochnow
May 21st, 1946 - June 4th, 2025
Roger Lee “Sam” Prochnow, 79, of Blackfoot, passed away June 4, 2025, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Sam was born May 21, 1946, in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, to Bennie Henry Prochnow and Charolette Ellyn Ruenger Prochnow. He grew up and attended school in Markesan, Wisconsin, and graduated from Markesan High School.
On January 21, 1967, he married Judith Ann Hoeft in Wisconsin. Sam and Judy started their home in Wisconsin and moved to Idaho and continued in food processing. His work took him to Oregon for eight years before returning to Idaho to finish his career. They retired to Blackfoot to be closer to family.
Sam was a member of the Elks Lodge and held many offices, serving as Exhalted Ruler in Preston, Idaho, twice and also as a state officer in Oregon. He volunteered as a firefighter in Preston and Markesan. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, gardening, watching sports (especially his Green Bay Packers) and birds. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends and his favorite kitty, Midnight.
Sam is survived by his wife, Judy Prochnow of Blackfoot, ID; son, Brian Roger (Cheryl) Prochnow of Morgan, UT; daughter, Michelle (Bryon) Daley of Kimberly, ID; daughter, Jennifer (Shawn) Bales of Firth, ID; brother, James Robert Prochnow of Markesan, WI; 11 grandchildren: Braxton (Ashley), Skyler (Shawna), Nick (Danica), Randon (Lauren), Cheridyn (Wes), Taylor (Caitlin), Shelby, Katie, Parker, Kieleigh, and Brinski; 11 great grandchildren; good friends, Rob and Kathleen White and Al and Katherine Stalder.
He was preceded in death by his parents; great grandson, James Roger Prochnow; and sister-in-law, Susan Prochnow.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at EIRMC for all of the compassionate care Sam received while under their care.
A celebration of Roger’s life will be held at a later date.
