Sandra Noreen Potter

January 8th, 1946 - April 12th, 2024

Sandra Noreen Potter, 78, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully at the Homestead Living Center on April 12, 2024. She was surrounded by family when the Lord called her home.

Sandra was born January 8, 1946, to Bud and Bessie Sims in Blackfoot, Idaho at home with a midwife. In grade school, they moved to Leadore, Idaho where they ranched. She loved anything outdoors and animals growing up. She also loved making penuche, a candy that she enjoyed. She graduated from Challis High School in 1964. After graduating from high school, she received financial aid from the Steele Reese Foundation for nurse’s training, due to her high grades, she did not have to pay it back.

In 1971, Sandra married Marvin Potter and they divorced in 1989. They had two daughters: Tanya and Trudy.

Sandra worked as an LPN at the Riverview Hospital in Idaho Falls and was an exceptional nurse dedicated to her work. She had a passion and love for nursing that was reflected through the loving care she gave to her patients. When her shift ended, she would stay longer to visit patients who did not have family that visited.

She continued her schooling at Ricks College and Weber State earning a bachelor’s in healthcare administration. She moved to Washington and worked at the Veterans Hospital in Vancouver, Washington where she retired. She absolutely loved her beautiful roses, the berries that grew there, and the ocean.

In 2007, she moved back to Idaho Falls to be with her two daughters. In her retired years she always stayed busy tending to her house and garden, attending master gardening classes and becoming a master gardener, going on a cruise to the Caribbean and a trip to Alaska. Sandra was known for her energetic and spunky personality, her love of flowers, gardening, and salmon fishing.

Sandra is survived by her two daughters: Tanya Bird and Trudy (Ryan) Duffy; grandchildren: Cason Duffy and Colton Duffy; and brother, Curtis Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Clinton Sims; and granddaughter, Madison Duffy.

She was loved by those who knew her and will be dearly missed. While we have sorrow, we also have joy that she is with Jesus now.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Cremation is under the care of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls. Condolences may be sent online at www.coltrinmortuary.com.
