ShawnDell Smith Jaramillo was born at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg, Idaho on February 27, 1971 to Gary “Buzz” Smith and Bellva Burnside Smith. She was a beautiful blue eyed baby girl that stole the hearts of so many. Growing up she was surrounded by all her cousins. Always playing, riding horses over to her Uncle Clyde’s and swimming in the canal. She wasn’t real crazy about camping, which we did often, because she didn’t like to get dirty, but she did like to fish. She loved the younger kids and would help them when needed. When her sister Shalynn was born she was like a little mother and took good care of her. Denny would tease her always.

Shawndell attended schools in the Rigby area, marching with the Troyette’s and enjoying her friends. She married Ben Surerus and they had a son Joshus Mark Surerus. They later divorced. She then married the absolute love of her life Michael J Jaramillo on May 3, 1991. Their life together was full of love and happiness making a beautiful home for their family. They added three more boys to their mix, Jordon Michael, Tyler Wayne and Tanier Lee. They resided in Kuna. Shawn was a good mother and enjoyed watching her boys grow and supporting them in all they did. Her love for her family was endless. She enjoyed coming home and spending time at the Jaramillo’s, especially fireworks on the 4th of July. Shawn was a kind and loving person! She was loved by so many and will truly be missed. Rest in peace my beautiful baby girl!

She is survived by her boys, Joshua Surerus, Jordan Jaramillo (Hannah), Tyler Jaramillo (Kendra) and Tanier Jaramillo (Karen), One brother Denny Smith and a sister ShaLynn Feisthamel. Three grandchildren, Boston Surerus, Finnley Jaramillo and Ezra Jaramillo and many aunts, uncles and cousins, nieces and nephews, a brother in-law Anthony Jaramillo (Laurie) and a sister-in-law Angela Simms (Steve).

She is preceded in death by her wonderful husband Michael J Jaramillo, her father Gary Ray “Buzz” Smith, her in-laws Lee and Shannon Jaramillo and a brother-in-law Daniel Jaramillo and her grandparents.

Services will be held June 29, 2025, at Eckersell Funeral Home in Rigby, Idaho. (101 West Main Street). Interment will be in the Little Butte Cemetery in Annis, Idaho. (3810 E. Menan Lorenzo Hwy).

Poem:

When I’m Gone
When I come to the end of my journey
And I travel my last weary mile,
Just forget if you can, I ever frowned
And remember only the smile.

Forget unkind words I have spoken;
Remember some good I have done,
Forget that I ever had a heartache
And remember I’ve had loads of fun.

Forget that I have stumbled and blundered
And sometimes fell by the way.
Remember I have fought battles and won,
Era the close of the day.

Then forget to grieve my going
I would not have you sad for a day.
But in Summer just gather some flowers
And remember the place where I lay.

And come in the evening
When the sun paints the sky in the west,
Stand for a few moments beside me
And remember only the best.
