Shirlene Rae Williams
July 9th, 1941 - May 23rd, 1925
Shirlene Rae Furniss Williams, age 83, of Idaho Falls passed away at her sons’ home in Idaho Falls, May 23, 2025, surrounded by her family, under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice.
Shirlene was born July 9, 1941, in Driggs, Idaho, a daughter of Oren Furniss and Eva Ard Furniss. She attended school in Teton Valley and graduated from Teton High School in May 1959. She continued her education at Ricks College and graduated in May 1962 after which she went to Utah State University and graduated in 1965. She had an associate in science, Major in Elementary Education, Library Science and Language Arts.
Shirlene married Lauren Williams on October 9, 1964, in the Idaho Falls Temple. She worked as a schoolteacher and then for Meleluca for 19 years. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as the librarian, the Gem and Mineral Society and the Art Guild.
Shirlene enjoyed golfing, art, playing the harmonica, piano, and singing.
Shirlene is survived by her son Troy (Jill) Williams of Idaho Falls, Idaho, sisters Pauline (John) Sadovich of Idaho Falls, Linda (Dave) Jensen of Sugar City, Renae (Rex) Miller of Filer, Rhonda (Ron) Weaver of St. Anthony and Brother, Mike Furniss of Driggs, 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Oren and Eva Furniss, Husband Lauren Williams and Sister-in-law Terri Furniss.
Funeral services will be on June 2, 2025, at the Eckersell Funeral Home (101 W. Main Street Rigby, ID 83442) at 11:00 a.m. The family will visit with friends from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral. The burial will be in the Sugar City Cemetery.
