Obituary
Shirley Ann Holm
November 8th, 1934 - May 30th, 2026
Shirley Holm, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to many, passed away on May 30, 2026, at the age of 91. She was born on November 8, 1934, in Annis, Idaho, and lived a life defined by faith, creativity, and tireless devotion to those around her.
Shirley married the love of her life, DelRay Holm, on June 23, 1950, beginning a partnership and family legacy that would span generations. Almost immediately after their wedding, DelRay was called to serve in the Korean War as part of the Army’s 116th Engineers, leaving Shirley on her own at a young age. When he returned, he was called as a missionary to the Northern States Mission. Though she cherished the visits she was able to make, it was a lonely season of life — one that quietly forged in Shirley a deep patience and perseverance that would shape and strengthen her in countless ways for the rest of her days. Together they raised six children: Lee Ann, Doug, Tom, Jim, Otto, and Jennifer. Their family grew to include 31 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren who carry her spirit forward.
Shirley was a woman of remarkable gifts. She expressed her creativity through oil painting, gardening, quilting, and tending her beloved chickens. She had a talent for music and shared it generously, playing the organ and piano in her church congregation and in the temple. Her skill in the kitchen was legendary — her pies and breads were something truly special — and that talent inspired her to organize and open a beloved local sandwich shop, Pies and Things, which became a community favorite. She also delighted in treasure hunting at garage sales with her many friends, always with a smile and a sharp eye.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Shirley gave generously of herself for many years — making quilts, preparing meals, and quietly serving her neighbors and community without expectation of anything in return.
Shirley is survived by her children Doug, Tom, Jim, Otto, and Jennifer, along with 31 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, DelRay; her daughter, Lee Ann; and grandchildren Casey Holm (son of Tom), Eddie Diamond and Danny Clark (children of Lee Ann), and Gentry Wood (child of Jennifer).
Graveside services will be Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Roberts Cemetery, 630 N 2800 E, Roberts, ID 83444.
She will be deeply missed and long remembered. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.eckersellfuneralhome.com
