On the morning of March 17, 2026, Slade Lovejoy, age 57, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family.

Slade was the youngest of six children and was born in San Diego, California, to Billy Brent Lovejoy and Nancy Jo Slade. Slade attended Curtis High School in Tacoma, Washington, until he was a Junior, then moved to Linden, UT, and graduated his senior year at Pleasant Grove High School, Class of 1987, in Pleasant Grove, Utah.

Slade was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Arcadia, California, Mission. When he returned, he attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, and graduated with an associate’s degree in business management. Later in his life, he returned to attend Idaho State University and graduated with an associate’s degree and completed his boards to become a licensed Physical Therapy Assistant in 2010. While attending Ricks College, Slade and a group of his friends formed a men’s Acapella chorus group under the name “Vocal Eclipse”. Slade was a brilliant musician from high school onward, and shortly after forming this choral group, he met Deborah Hess of Ashton, Idaho, who heard him singing while he was sitting in the pew immediately behind her in Sacrament meeting in their college singles ward. They began dating a short while afterward and married three months later in the Logan, Utah Temple in August of 1991.

Slade was a man of many skills and talents and could learn how to do just about anything he set his hands to. As a gifted medical professional, Slade worked diligently as a Firefighter EMT-A at the Rexburg Madison Fire Department from 2001 to 2009 and then held a 13-year career as a Physical Therapy Assistant at EIRMC until his medical retirement in 2024.

Slade was a generous and deeply compassionate friend, brother, husband, and father, and will be terribly missed.

He is preceded in death by his sons: Samuel Thorn and Jacob Hess Lovejoy, his parents, and his elder siblings: Howard “Tug”, Michael Brent Lovejoy, and Shawna “Dobie” Lovejoy Carron. And many grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Slade is survived by his wife, Deborah; his daughters: Nancy Lee and Alandria Lovejoy; and his elder sisters: Linnea “Tani” Lovejoy and Loraine “Rabbit” Lovejoy-Evans, DPT (Eric Evans); along with many dear friends and community members whose lives were touched by Slade’s kindness and care.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. MST on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the Rigby Stake Center, 258 W 1st N, Rigby. It was Slade’s desire to be cremated, so in lieu of a viewing, there will be a reception held for family and friends at the Stake Center prior to the memorial services at 10:00 a.m. MST.
