Steven William Bennett, 80, a resident of Idaho Falls when the weather was good, passed away on November 13, 2023, in Overton, Nevada.

Steve was born July 6, 1943, in Idaho Falls and was the first of two very good looking boys to be born to Charles Bennett and Pearl Emilia Scott Bennett. He grew up on a small farm and dairy in LaBelle and graduated from Rigby High School in 1961. Steve continued his education and graduated from Ricks College, and in 1970, graduated from Idaho State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. In 1995, Steve went on to attend University of Las Vegas where we earned his Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

On January 1, 1963, he married Delores Jean Grover in Idaho Falls. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in 1963. Delores passed in 2019, leaving a void in Steve’s heart that was never filled. They traveled the world together as they were able to retire in their early 60s, and from then, they were able to fulfill their passion, which turned out to be them being together every minute of every single day. They lived for each other. Loved each other.

Steve loved to laugh and always tried to put a smile on everyone’s face. Even later in life when his jokes weren’t that funny (or he’d already told them multiple times before) he would still make you laugh because he was laughing. Dad loved the outdoors and was always ready to go fishing. He and mom made such an impact in the community in which they lived in Overton, Nevada, that if you happen by the shuffleboard court you will see a bench and a plaque honoring their selfless hours they spent running tournaments and just being fun.

Steve is survived by his children, Brian (Lisa) Bennett of Ammon, ID, Karry (Susan) Bennett of Boise, ID, Jeff Bennett of Dickinson, ND, and Stephanie Bennett of Big Timber, MT; brother, Ronald (Lylene) Bennett of Vineyard, UT; 13 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Jean Bennett; and his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the LaBelle 3rd Ward Building, 4223 East 528 North in Rigby, Idaho. The family will visit with friends from 9-9:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Annis Little-Butte Cemetery.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.woodfuneralhome.com.
