Valerie Montgomery

Valerie Ann Metcalf Montgomery passed away September 18, 2023, in Blackfoot Idaho at the Willows Care Center.

Valerie was born April 25, 1939, to Carl Russell and Agnes Smith Metcalf in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was their seventh child. She lived on Anderson Street with her family and with her mother after her father passed away in 1947. She attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from the Idaho Falls High School in 1957. She was a bookkeeper for Fred and Wayne Tire Company for many years until the owners retired. She worked for Idaho Falls Battery company. She also worked for the Design Gallery furniture store. She worked for several companies and set up bookkeeping for them. She was also a familiar face at the Rio and Motor Vu theatres, where she issued tickets in the 1960s through the 1980s. She really enjoyed music and owned an extensive collection of recordings. She had an exceptional sense of humor. She was very close to her mother.

She met and later married James H. Montgomery on 24 March 2000 in Idaho Falls. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He died 9 August 2018.

Valerie is preceded in death by her husband James, her parents, and her brothers and a sister: Farrel, Verle, Keith, Darwin, and Valeen Metcalf. She is survived by a sister, Sharon Metcalf Hjelm of Blackfoot Idaho, and her nieces and nephews.

Services for Valerie will be at 11 A.M. at Eckersell Funeral Home at 101 West Main Street in Rigby Idaho. Visitation will be at 10 A.M. Burial will be at the Ucon Cemetery.
