Ventura Herrera Gonzales was reunited with his sweet heart on March 14, 2026.

Ventura, was born in Del Rio, Texas, to Maria Herrera and Antonio Gonzalez on July 2, 1938. Due to a clerical error at the hospital, his last name is not spelled the same as his parents and many of his siblings. Ben talked fondly of his childhood and adventures in Texas spending time with his brothers, cousins and grandparents. In 1951, looking for greener pastures the family moved north working in the fields of Utah and Idaho. The Gonzalez family eventually settled in Idaho where he spent the rest of his life. He often returned to Texas to visit family.

Ben met the love of his life Patricia Lundberg in 1961 and on April 14, 1962, they were married. He was very proud of the fact they were married almost 63 years. They soon started a family of their own with Rayne, Jay, Randee, and Laurie. They lived in multiple places in east Idaho but eventually made their home in Shelley where he attended many sporting events his kids and grandkids participated in. His favorite times were when he had his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren around. To Ben, family was everything. Whether it be his brothers and sisters coming to visit or nieces and nephews, their door was always open and everyone was welcome.

Working in the fields at a fairly young age, Ben learned the value of hard work which he used throughout his lifetime. He became a skilled mechanic, welder and fabricator, working for local farms, Standard Mead Ford, Logan Farm equipment, and ending his career owning Actioncraft Trailers building quality trailers. Ben loved cars and working on them. From rebuilding engines to the body work he tried his hand at all of it. This is a love he shared with his Dad and brothers. Passing his passion down to his sons and grandsons.

Ventura is survived by his two sons Rayne Gonzales of Pocatello, Randee (Heather) Gonzales of Shelley, 8 grandchildren; Joshua, Shayce, Amber (Dillon), Brittni, Jaydan, Ellie, Macie, Holden. 17 Great- grandchildren, and sister-in-laws Elanie Gonzalez and Chepa Gonzalez both of Idaho Falls and Arlene Gonzalez.

He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia, his parents Antonio and Maria, son Jay, daughter Laurie, Great-granddaughter Kinnley and all of his siblings Antonio, Lupe, Albino, Joe, Jesse, and Maria.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nalder Funeral Home in Shelley.
