Ginny (Big Red) Barnes passed away peacefully in Idaho Falls on Monday, July 14, 2025.

She was born to Claude and Angie Wilson in Los Angeles in 1940. From childhood, the family, including sisters Diane and Claudia, lived in Crestline, California, in the San Bernardino National Forest, 4,500 feet above the many orange groves below. The smell of orange blossoms always reminded her of her childhood.

She married Douglas K Barnes in June 1957, and moved to Doug’s hometown of Idaho Falls, where they raised two children, Angie and Rick. She went to school and became a nurse, working for Dr. Phillip Leavitt and later Dr. Darryl Moffat. She loved her profession and her patients.

The family enjoyed their cabin in Island Park in both the summer and winter. Ginny also enjoyed listening to and dancing to country music, golf and bowling. She was notorious for her love of shopping. She cherished her memories of several trips to Maui and also Cabo and Alaska.

She leaves behind daughter Angie (Larry) Dangremond, son Rick Barnes and granddaughters Kelsy (Payton), Grace and Cat, and great-granddaughter Lahna. She is preceded in death by her husband Doug and both sisters.

No services are planned at this time. A celebration of life is planned for a later date.
