Warren David Hill, 74, of Idaho Falls, passed peacefully on February 2, 2026. He spent his final days exactly as he would have wanted: laughing, telling jokes, and savoring every moment of love with his family.

He was born May 29, 1951, in Idaho Falls to Jess LeRoy Hill and Nello Von Rapp Hill. Warren was a man of deep kindness, quiet strength, and a big heart. He was known for his gentle humor, his love of telling jokes, and the way he made people feel comfortable just by being himself. To those who knew him best, he was simply the sweetest man.

Growing up on a farm off Ririe Highway surrounded by white wagon wheels, Warren lived with his parents and four brothers. It was there he learned the value of hard work, self-reliance, and caring for others. A proud graduate of Bonneville High School, Warren went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era.

After his service, he purchased his first home for $9,500 on E. 18th Street in Idaho Falls. In July of 1976, he married Helen Newman. Together, they were blessed with two children, Matt and Nickole. While they later chose to divorce, they remained close friends throughout his life. Warren was grounded in honesty and skill, working as a union plumber and pipefitter at the Idaho National Laboratory, a career he took great pride in.

That same mechanical skill carried over into his personal passions. Warren loved restoring classic cars, finding immense satisfaction in bringing pieces of history back to life. He was especially proud of his 1928 Ford Model A and his 1956 Ford Thunderbird. Warren also loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing, and camping brought him peace. He especially cherished the “North to Alaska” trip he recently took with his two adult children, an experience he spoke of often and held close to his heart. He enjoyed simple pleasures, like drinking coffee with friends who called him “Wagon Tongue” and being surrounded by the people he loved. He believed in living life in balance and found contentment in the everyday moments.

Warren is survived by his son, Matt Hill (Brandi); his daughter, Nickole Davis Hill (Lascelles); and his seven beloved grandchildren, who were a great source of pride and joy in his life. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers: Jack Hill, Robert Hill, Brent Hill, and Gary Hill.

True to his nature, Warren requested no formal services. A celebration of his life will be held in his honor—just the way he would want it—shared over pizza and beer, filled with stories, laughter, and remembrance.

He will be remembered for his big heart, his steady presence, and the big love he gave so freely. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the family he loved so deeply.
