Wayne Christensen, 80 of Iona, Idaho, passed away January 22, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Wayne was born January 25, 1943, in Vancouver, Washington, to Floyd and Faye Christensen. He was the oldest of five children: Ronald (Betty) Christensen, Cheryl Carlsen, Debra Price and Neil (Vickie) Christensen. Wayne attended school in Idaho Falls where he graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1961. After graduating high school, Wayne enlisted in the Air Force. After serving four years in the military, Wayne returned home to Idaho Falls.

On June 27, 1974, Wayne married Marcia Anne Griffith in Idaho Falls where they combined their blended family of three boys. These boys were a handful, but as they grew up and became men, they married three great wives, Rick & Stephanie, Jeff & Valerie, and Danny & WenDee. They are blessed with nine grandchildren, Cory, SaDee, LaCee, Teryl, Trad, Alora, Kayla, Dax, and Cooper; and three great grandchildren, Hadley, Asher, and BrynLee.

Wayne started and operated a successful roofing business for many years until an accident forced him to retire. He was great with his hands and could fix or build anything. Wayne had many interests and hobbies from fishing, hunting, camping, golfing, riding his 4-wheeler to bowling, and enjoying NASCAR. He was a great artist with his oil paintings. His love for his siblings, kids, and all the grand and great grandchildren kept him busy during retirement. Often you would find Wayne at all their activities whether it was in school, at church, on the sports field, dance, music, and whatever came up as he would always be there for support. Wayne was also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He is preceded in death by his son, Barry Nichols and his parents.

He will be missed.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 1-1:45 p.m. prior to services.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.woodfuneralhome.com.
