William Clay “Bill” Orchard, 55, of Rigby, Idaho passed away unexpectedly on February 21, 2025 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Bill was born on October 26, 1969 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Theo Ray “Ted” and Joyce (Donohue) Orchard. He was the youngest of seven children, the “big little brother”.

Bill attended schools in Iona, Idaho graduating from Bonneville High School in 1988. He then studied welding at Ricks College where he met the love of his life, Jennie Marie Holland from Upstate New York, in the fall of 1991. They were married a short time later on August 27, 1992 in the Washington D.C. temple. After earning his associate degree, he was presented with an opportunity to work for the family business, Idaho Travertine, with his father and siblings. He spent many years as the Production Manager in their stone fabrication shop and the last 3 years as General Manager. He also cherished the time he spent working with each of his children at the family business as he passed on his wisdom and hard work ethic.

Bill was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a full-time mission in Porto, Portugal from 1989 to 1991 and served in many other callings including bishopric counselor, ward clerk, high council member, and young men’s advisor. One of his favorite callings was Primary teacher where he was able to teach two of his own children. Most recently he served as a Gospel Doctrine teacher where he was known and loved for his story-telling ability. During his time at Idaho Travertine he helped with the stonework on some of the most notable projects for The Church including the Conference Center, Nauvoo temple, BYU-Idaho campus, and headstones for prophets, which he was very proud of. He had a strong testimony of his Savior and a loving Father in Heaven and shared it often with everyone he knew.

Bill loved his family fiercely and enjoyed spending time with them as often as he could. Board games were played at nearly every family gathering, and he considered himself the reigning champion of them all. He loved the outdoors, camping, hunting, and visiting the two Idaho Travertine quarries. Though he was large in stature, and his hands were rough from years of physical labor, he was gentle, soft-spoken, and a friend to all. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Jennie, his six children, Kaleb (Jenna) Orchard of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Hayley (Ryan) Mortimer of Tremonton, Utah, Erik, Joseph, Julie, and Orrin Orchard of Rigby, Idaho, his parents, Ted and Joyce Orchard of Iona, Idaho, his six siblings, Theo (Patricia) Orchard of Payson, Utah, Marlys (Randall) Moon of Tucson, Arizona, Angela (Nielsen) Burch of Ucon, Idaho, Christine (John) Baird of Iona, Idaho, Timothy (Loree) Orchard of Ucon, Idaho, Clifford (Olga) Orchard of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and four beautiful grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two nephews, Andrew John “AJ” Baird and Rye Paul Burch.

Services will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Perry church building (285 2nd West St, Ririe, Idaho). Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Ririe Shelton Cemetery.
