Obituary
William Mark Abel
June 18th, 1979 - March 9th, 2026
William Mark Abel, age 46, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He was born on June 18, 1979, in Cardston, Alberta, Canada.
William spent most of his early years in Cardston, Alberta, and St. Thomas, Ontario, before moving to Mud Lake, Idaho, in 1993. Throughout his life he worked many different jobs, most recently as a cementer in the oilfield. Though hardworking by trade, his true passion was cooking. He loved bringing people together through food and sharing meals with family and friends.
He had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting, and spending time in nature. Above all else, his greatest joy was his family. While not a teacher by career, William was a teacher in the truest sense of the word. He taught his children to cook, to be self-sufficient, and most importantly, to love others by example. He found great joy in sharing the things he loved and passing those passions on to the people around him.
Those who knew William knew a man whose heart was bigger than most. Many people who were not biologically his children still considered him their dad because of the way he cared for them. Everyone who met him knew they were loved and valued. William often told his children to “find your fabulous.” He believed deeply in the power of fun, laughter, and joy.
While he was not a wealthy or powerful man, William stood like a redwood—strong, steady, and immovable in his love for others, especially for his beloved wife. William is survived by his devoted wife, and high school sweetheart, Angela Carmen Abel, whom he loved more deeply than words can express. The two were inseparable since the day they met and married April 5, 1997. Three years later they were sealed in the temple for time and eternity April 7, 2000. Together for 29 beautiful years, their love was something incredible to see for all who knew them. And even more so, something to strive towards.
He is also survived by his eight children: Angella Rose Zimmerman, her husband Zachary Zimmerman, Sarah Christine Abel, her husband Royal Joseph Miller, Bradley Marcus Abel, his partner Savannah Ortiz, Robin Pearl Andrade, and her husband Rhonny Andrade. His mother Ronda Lue Coombs, stepmother Sue Abel and his three brothers Jeremy Abel, Gordon Abel and Sam Abel, and his sister Cheryl Lula Abel. He was the proud grandfather of Viviana Rose Andrade, Jacob Abel, and Axel Paul Martin. Along with every other person who holds his lessons in their heart.
William was preceded in death by his grandparents John and Joan Abel, Wallace and Pearl Wilding, his brother Oliver John Abel, many aunts and uncles, his stepfather Lynn Hales Coombs and father, Romney John Abel.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Terreton, Idaho Stake Center, 1297 E 1500 N, Terreton, Idaho, with a viewing Friday, March 20, 2026, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. also at the stake center and prior to the service from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment will follow at West Jefferson Cemetery.
William will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and a man whose kindness made strangers feel like family. His love, laughter, and the lessons he passed on will continue to live on in all those who were fortunate enough to know him. Those who loved him will continue to carry his lessons, his laughter, and his love forward as they each go out into the world and find their own fabulous.
