(CHICAGO) — New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia, who has been on the disabled list with soreness and stiffness in his pitching elbow, declared Tuesday after a bullpen session in Chicago that he will be ready to pitch Friday against Cleveland.
Sabathia has been on the DL since August 9 and is eligible to comeback Thursday.
“We’ve got to see how he comes out the next two days,” Yankees skipper Joe Girardi said. “If he comes out OK tomorrow, it’s pretty likely he’s going to be our starter on Friday.”
The 32-year-old Sabathia has a 12-3 record to go with a 3.56 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 140 strikeouts this season.
