(TRENTON, N.J.) — New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has agreed to expand options for ill children to take medical marijuana.
On Friday Christie told the Legislature he would sign the bill if it includes certain changes, including only allowing edible forms of marijuana to be available to minors, not adults.
Christie is also requesting that children have approval from a pediatrician and a psychiatrist, according to CNN.
In a statement, Christie said, “I am making common sense recommendations to this legislation to ensure sick children receive the treatment their parents prefer, while maintaining appropriate safeguards.”
New Jersey is one of 20 states that allow medical marijuana, according to the Los Angeles Times.
