Gabrielle Union’s New Fiancé Fathered Baby Boy with Another Woman

Alexander Tamargo/Getty Images for The Collection(LOS ANGELES) — Actress Gabrielle Union and NBA star Dwyane Wade just got engaged last week, but new reports claim the Miami Heat guard recently welcomed a son with another woman.
Entertainment Tonight reports Wade fathered a baby boy with a woman he knew for years while on a break from Union. According to a source, Union knew of the child before she accepted his marriage proposal.
Wade confirmed the report at a press conference Monday prior to his team’s game in Denver.
According to Florida’s Sun-Sentinel, he said, “I had a time, a part in our break, in our pain and our hurt, a blessing came out of it in my life, having a son that was born healthy.” He added, “So I’m moving on.”
In September, Wade, 31, spoke about his brief split with Union, 41, on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
“Celebrity relationships are very hard. For us this was a big year for our relationship from the standpoint she was shooting her show, Being Mary Jane and gone most of the year. I was dealing with my injuries [and] trying to win a championship. So we kind of took a step back,” Wade said.
“At the end of the day, we came back together and said we want to continue this and we want to get better each day,” he continued on Leno. “She’s been with me and I’ve been with her all summer long. We’re going strong now.”
After reports surfaced Monday, Union tweeted: “If u are unhappy/angry/resentful w/ ur life, before u pt the finger & place blame/shame on others…Look at urself. WE control our own destiny.”
“Workin on ME has gotten me MUCH further than obsessing/criticizing/judging other folks. U never lose when u work on yourself,” she continued, although it’s unclear if these messages were related to the report.
This will be the second marriage for both Union and Wade, who have been dating since 2009. Wade is already a father to two sons, Zaire and Zion.
Union is set to star in BET’s Being Mary Jane, which debuts Jan. 7, 2014.
