(NEW YORK) — Are Americans losing their artificially-sweetened taste for soda? According to new research, sales of diet soda are falling faster than other types of soft drinks.
Wells Fargo says sales of zero- and low-calorie carbonated drinks are down 6.8 percent in the last year. For full-calorie sodas, the drop was 2.2 percent. It’s the third year in a row diet sales have been slimming at a faster rate.
Part of the decline may be due to studies that have linked the sweeteners in diet soda to obesity.
