Magic Guard Victor Oladipo to Miss the Next Month with Facial Fracture

Andy Lyons/Getty Images(NEW YORK) — Orlando Magic guard Victor Oladipo is having a rough start to his second NBA season. After already dealing with a sprained MCL, Oladipo is now expected to miss a month after suffering a facial fracture.
After dealing with the MCL injury for most of the preseason, Oladipo finally returned to practice earlier last week but suffered an elbow to the face. The injury required surgery.
Having Oladipo missing the first month of the season could prove to be a tough blow for the Magic, who is rebuilding. He was expected to start at shooting guard and help ease the burden for rookie point guard Elfrid Payton as he will be counted on heavily as a rookie.
Oladipo was last season’s Rookie of the Year runner-up after averaging 13.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game.
The Magic will now likely turn to third-year player Evan Fournier to start at shooting guard while Oladipo recovers.
