UK Foreign Secretary Hasn’t ‘Ruled Out Playing a Role in Syria,’
Published at(LONDON) — Philip Hammond, the U.K. Foreign Secretary, said on Wednesday that the U.K. has “not ruled out playing a role in Syria.”
Hammond made the comments during a press availability also featuring U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. Hammond noted that while Britain would consider involvement in strikes against ISIS in Syria, such action would require additional parliamentary approval.
The U.K. has been working with the existing coalition put together by the U.S. and has aided in conducting airstrikes in Iraq.
Hammond also discussed the British response to the ongoing Ebola outbreak in West Africa, saying that the country was deploying 750 military personnel, a medical ship and three helicopters to the region.
