IDAHO FALLS — The Idaho Falls Police Department will hold its annual Community Night Out on Wednesday.

The free event, designed for the community to learn about crime prevention and meet officers, is held between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Memorial Drive between B and E streets.

“The IFPD is proud to host this annual event to provide residents the opportunity to come together to learn more about safety and crime prevention and cultivate community spirit,” Community Projects Coordinator Joelyn Hansen said in a news release. “It’s a night of entertainment, food, activities and games for the whole community.”

Residents will learn about a variety of topics, including home security and texting and driving. Information from local organizations about safety also is provided.

Idaho Falls Police use the event as a chance to build a better community by getting to know residents and mingling with them.

The event will feature free barbecue, live bluegrass music from local music group Fiddlin’ Around Band and local vendors. Also, there will be activities for children such as train rides, bounce houses, superhero appearances and a scavenger hunt.

Idaho Falls Police will also show off emergency vehicles and the regional bomb squad robot. Idaho Falls crime scene investigation also will have a fingerprinting activity for children.

Idaho Falls Fire Department trucks and animals from the Idaho Falls animal shelter will be in attendance.
