UPDATE: Recycling truck bursts into flame in residential neighborhood

  Published at  | Updated at

AMMON — The Ammon Fire Department is investigating a recycling truck that burst into flames this afternoon.

Firefighters responded to 5473 Clearfield Lane at about 12:15 p.m. Monday.

It is unclear what caused the fire, but it didn’t spread beyond the truck before it was put out.

Ammon Fire Captain Jon Molbert said the fire began in the engine compartment. During the fire there were several explosions from a tire, the gas tank and the truck’s hydraulics.

Authorities say no one was injured in the blaze.

The truck belongs to Western Recycling, which is contracted to collect recycling in Ammon.

EastIdahoNews.com will post more details as they become available.
