Cardinals Fly High on Late Bomb

Cardinals Fly High on Late Bomb

Streeter Lecka/Getty Images(PHOENIX, AZ) --  The Arizona Cardinals won in dramatic fashion, 24-20 over the Philadelphia Eagles.

For the majority of the game it was a defensive struggle.

The fourth quarter proved to be the most exciting as the offenses began to gain steam. After tieing the game at 17 with 9:01 to go, the Eagles methodically moved the ball on a 13-play seven minute drive down to the Cardinals three. Cody Parkey lined up for the go-ahead field goal and gave Philadelphia a 20-17 lead.

With 1:21 remaining in the fourth quarter Carson Palmer heaved a pass up to rookie John Brown.  Brown was screaming past two Eagles defenders reached out and caught the ball.  After a quick stumble, Brown regained his momentum and raced to the endzone for a 75-yard touchdown.

The Eagles mounted a quick rally driving the ball 64 yards to attempt several throws into the Cardinals endzone.  On the final play with one second remaining, pressure in his face, Foles threw up a pass to rookie Jordan Matthews.  Matthews caught the ball but was shoved out by safety Rashad Johnson.

The Cardinals move to 6-1 and hold a firm grasp on the NFL West.

Giants Suffer Big Blow in Loss to Eagles

Giants Suffer Big Blow in Loss to Eagles

NFL via Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- The New York Giants were shut out by the Philadelphia Eagles 27-0 during Sunday night's football game.

That wasn't the worst news as wide receiver Victor Cruz suffered a knee injury on a non-contact play in the third quarter. Cruz immediately grabbed his knee and could be seen fighting off tears.

It is believed that Cruz tore the patellar tendon in his right knee.

Quarterback Eli Manning was harrassed all night by the Eagles defense, and was sacked six times.  The Giants could not find a rhythm all night as they could only muster 253 yards of total offense.

The Eagles soared as Nick Foles completed two touchdown passes, both to his tight ends; James Casey and Zach Ertz.  Philadelphia also ran over the Giants as LeSean McCoy rushed for 149 yards on 22 carries.

Cary Williams Apologizes for Practice Comments

Cary Williams Apologizes for Practice Comments

Scott Boehm/Getty Images(PHILADELPHIA) -- Philadelphia Eagles defensive back Cary Williams apologized Tuesday to his teammates and coach regarding remarks he made after Sunday's game about how the team practices.Williams blamed the Eagles sluggish starts in their first three contests on head coach Chip Kelly's up-tempo practices. "When you're a pro for seven years and you make a mistake, you understand you affected the welfare of everybody in this locker room, and you have to address those guys man to man and let them know that you're sorry," Williams said. "That's what I did."Williams and Kelly have since talked about the player's controversial comments. "I'm not telling you guys anything that Chip said to me personally," Williams said to the media. "We just had a great conversation, guys. We have a little bit more of an understanding. We understand where each other stand. We're able to agree on some things. That was that."
