Harper Homers Three Times in Rehab

Harper Homers Three Times in Rehab G Fiume/Getty Images(AKRON, Ohio) -- During a rehab stint with Double-A Harrisburg, Bryce Harper belted three home runs in a 10-4 win for the Senators on Saturday. The Washington Nationals outfielder was preparing to return to the Major League's following thumb surgery. Harper was 4-for-5 in his third rehab game, driving in five runs. Hitting in the third spot of the order, Harper was the designated hitter for the Senators. The 2012 National League Rookie of the Year injured his thumb on a headfirst slide in late April before being placed on the disabled list on April 27. He was hitting .289 with one homer and nine RBI's at the time of the injury. The Nationals are hoping to get Harper back to the bigs this week. Manager Matt Williams said he is unsure if Harper will play for Harrisburg in Sunday's game with Akron. Washington is currently tied with Atlanta for first place in the NL East. Nationals’ Catcher Wilson Ramos Placed on the DL

Nationals’ Catcher Wilson Ramos Placed on the DL Christian Petersen/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Despite his immense talent, Washington Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos just can't stay healthy. The team has placed him on the disabled list with a right hamstring injury. Ramos hurt his right hamstring Tuesday night after stretching out a double in the ninth inning against the San Francisco Giants. He initially thought the injury wasn't serious. According to manager Matt Williams, a recent MRI on Ramos' hamstring showed a Grade-1 hamstring strain. The team is hopeful that Ramos will be able to return to the lineup once he's eligible to come off the disabled list. Ramos has had a lot of trouble staying healthy during his five-year career in Major League Baseball. At 26, Ramos has played over 100 games in a season just once. He missed 84 games this past season, 137 games in 2012, and 49 games in 2011. Jose Lobaton is expected to start in Ramos' place, while the team has also called up catcher Sandy Leon from Triple-A Syracuse. Follow @ABCNewsRadio Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio

Nationals Place Starting Pitcher Gio Gonzalez on the DL

Nationals Place Starting Pitcher Gio Gonzalez on the DL Gary Bogdon/MLB Photos via Getty Images(WASHINGTON) -- Another injury has hit the Washington Nationals.  Starting pitcher Gio Gonzalez has been placed on the disabled list with inflammation in his pitching shoulder. Gonzalez hasn't been his usual reliable self recently, and the shoulder injury may be the reason. A recent MRI revelaed the inflammation, but according to the team revealed "no structural damage." Against the New York Mets on Sunday, Gonzalez gave up five earned run in just three inings of work. He's given up 12 earned runs his last two starts, and the team hopes a trip to the DL is just what Gonzalez needs. "He's a big key to the ball club," Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo said. "We'd like to get him back. We're going to take our time and be careful with him because he's vital to the ball club." Now in his third season with the Nationals, the 28-year-old Gonzalez has been one of the more consistent pitchers in baseball since he was acquired by the team from the Oakland Athletics. In nine starts this season, Gonzalez is 3-4 with a 4.62 ERA. Follow @ABCNewsRadio Copyright 2014 ABC News Radio
