(ABERDEEN, ID) – The city of Aberdeen is bracing for the closure of the Simplot plant next year.  Simplot is consolidating its plants into one location starting next year, meaning that current facilities in Aberdeen, Nampa, and Caldwell won’t be needed. Officials say nearly 300 people at the Aberdeen plant will lose their jobs in 2014. For the town of only 1,800, the closure is expected to be a significant hit to the local economy. Officials say the new plant, which is being built in Caldwell, will employ only 250 people.
