(NEW YORK) — (3) Ohio State (12-0) rallied from eight points down with less than two minutes to play to stop Notre Dame (8-4), 64-61, in the BlackRock Gotham Classic at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night.
Junior forward LaQuinton Ross and senior guard Lenzelle Smith started the comeback for the Buckeyes, with a pair of baskets to cut the lead to four with 45 seconds remaining. Smith then scored seven of his nine points in the final 33 seconds, including 5 of 5 from the charity stripe.
With Ohio State leading 64-61 with three seconds remaining in the game, Fighting Irish freshman guard Demetrius Jackson failed to convert on a potential game-tying three-pointer.
