Obama Stops at Burger Joint in Delaware
Published at(WILMINGTON, Del.) — While in Wilmington, Delaware, Thursday to make a speech on rebuilding infrastructure, President Obama stopped by a nearby burger joint for lunch.
Obama dined at the Charcoal Pit, known for its burgers and sundaes, with Tanei Benjamin, a single working mom who wrote to him a year ago about her financial struggles.
Obama, who declared “I’m starving!,” ordered a four-ounce burger with fries. He asked for it to be done medium well, and to have lettuce and tomato.
The president also took time to shake hands and mingle with diners.
Obama was in the First State visiting a damaged highway bridge that has been closed all summer after its supports were found to be tilting. While Congress debates federal money for road repairs, Obama used the Delaware bridge as a backdrop for his latest executive action on spending.
