Severe Rain, Flooding Hits Southwest
Published at | Updated at(PHOENIX) — Arizona has declared a state of emergency after severe rain and flooding plagued parts of the state Monday.
Phoenix saw its wettest day on record, with at least 3.29 inches of rain.
In Tucson, firefighters say a woman died when the car she was driving was swept away by water. When rescuers arrived, her car was submerged; her body was pulled out.
Heavy rains are pounding much of the Southwest. Five states, including California, were under flash flood watches Monday night – most through Tuesday evening.
