Browns Cut Ben Tate
Published at(CLEVELAND, Oh.) — The Cleveland Browns signed running back Ben Tate to a two-year, $6.2 million contract this offseason.
Tuesday, the Browns released Tate after he suited up for only ten games.
The Browns signed Tate away from the Houston Texans to be their feature back in offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan’s offense. Tate proved to offer little in Cleveland.
When playing his old team this past week, Tate carried the ball twice for -9 yards.
Tate had also complained about sharing carries with fellow running backs Isaiah Crowell and Terrance West.
When asked about the release, General Manager Ray Farmer stated, “With all the transactions we make while constructing our roster, it will always be our intent to do what is best for our football team. This move is no different and we wish Ben the best going forward.”
