Facebook Criticized For Its Year-End Collage
Published at | Updated at(NEW YORK) — Facebook is under fire following its annual tradition of giving friends a year-end picture book.
An automatically-generated collage of your Facebook photos is captioned with “It’s been a great year.” But it’s rubbing a lot of people the wrong way– especially those who didn’t have a great year.
One Facebook users who lost his mother and brother in 2014 was not happy to see pictures of them featured prominently on the newsfeed tease of his year in review.
Some people say they realize the algorithm didn’t mean to upset people, but they suggest next year Facebook use a more subtle tease– with no pictures– that first asks whether users want to see the review package.
