Jury Selection Completed in Vanderbilt Rape Trial

SQUARESPACE CACHEVERSION=1421198297542Comstock/Stockbyte/Thinkstock(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) — Jury selection was completed on Tuesday on day two of the Vanderbilt University rape trial, in which two university football players are charged with aggravated rape and sexual battery of a female student.

Cory Batey and Brandon Vandenburg are among four former football players who were accused of being in the room at the time of the alleged rape. Among the witnesses who testified on Tuesday were two friends of the alleged victim, a current Vanderbilt football player, and an officer from the Vanderbilt University Police Department.

The jury consists of 14 jurors, including six white women, two black women, two black men, three white men and a Persian woman.

The four witnesses took the stand on Tuesday to describe the details of the evening of the alleged incident. The alleged victim is expected to testify during the trial.

All four former players have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
