iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — The average gas price in the country is $2.06 a gallon — down $1.23 from a year ago. So why aren’t we seeing any relief in airplane ticket prices?
Gas accounts for about 34 to 50 percent of airline costs, but there are several reasons why flying doesn’t cost any cheaper for passengers.
One reason is that customers are still willing to pay up for plane tickets, so airlines will continue to charge as they want.
