Award Show Expert Offers Tips for Your Oscars Pool

ABC(NEW YORK) — Haven’t made your predictions yet for this Sunday’s Academy Awards? Tom O’Neil of the award show-themed website GoldDerby.com has some advice before you participate in your office’s Oscars pool.
His first suggestion: follow your brain and not your heart. He explains to ABC News Radio, “The biggest mistake you could make predicting the Oscars is voting for the movies you love and the performances you’re rooting for. Don’t do that. You will inevitably fail. Vote for what you think they’re going to vote for based on past history.”
O’Neil also believes your vote should fall in line with the experts’ predictions. He says, “Be conservative, because in general there aren’t huge surprises at the Oscars.”
The 87th Oscars, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, will air on ABC this Sunday night. Terrence Howard and Oscar-nominated The Theory of Everything actress Felicity Jones have just been added to the list of presenters.
