According to CTV News, Ford accused a member of the city staff of deliberately omitting $20,000 in expenses that would be incurred in a possible trip to Italy. The discussion surrounded a proposal for an Ontario installation and presence at Expo 2015 in Milan, Italy. Ford claimed that a line item involved a $20,000 cost was intentionally left out of the report.

Ford argued that the report, as presented, was misleading. The report did not specify city staff that would travel to Milan or the cost of the trip. The city staff member said any missing information was unintentional.

“This is really a touchy issue,” Ford said. “I respect you, but to say this wasn’t intentional, that’s very hard to believe.” Ford was then asked to retract his comments by Speaker Frances Nunziata, and refused. The speaker then asked him to leave the council chambers.

On Thursday, Ford tweeted a link to the report in question, asking his followers to take a look for themselves.
