Prince Charles and Camilla to Visit US in March

Mark Cuthbert/UK Press via Getty Images(NEW YORK) — The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall will make a four-day visit to the United States next month.
The trip will mark the 150th anniversary of both the end of the American Civil War and the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln. Beginning on March 17, Prince Charles and Camilla will spend three days in Washington, D.C., visiting the Armed Forces Retirement Home, believed to eb the site where Lincoln wrote the last draft of his Emancipation Proclamation. They will also visit Mount Vernon, the home of President George Washington, and the National Archives, where they will mark the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta.
On March 19, President Obama will host the Prince and the Duchess in the Oval Office.
For the fourth and final day of the trip, their highnesses will travel to Louisville, Kentucky, for a symposium on health at which Prince Charles will give the keynote address. The Duchess will spend that day visiting a food literacy project for young people at a local farm.
The White House says the visit will highlight partnerships between the U.S. and the United Kingdom in “key areas” including combatting climate change, creating opportunities for youth, encouraging corporate responsibilty, and preserving historical and cultural links.
Prince Charles last visited the U.S. in 2011, and the couple last traveled across the pond together in 2007.
