The NBC telecast of the New England Patriots’ last-minute victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl 49 in Glendale, Arizona, averaged an estimated 114.4 million viewers. The previous record of 112.2 million was set last year, with Fox’s telecast of the Seahawks’ blowout win over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 48.

The audience for Super Bowl 49 peaked between 9:45 p.m. and 10 p.m. Eastern time, when 120.8 million people watched the Patriots’ game-winning drive in the fourth quarter.

Katy Perry’s halftime performance also set a record by drawing 118.5 million viewers. It’s the biggest audience for a Super Bowl halftime show dating back to 1991, according to the Nielsen Company.

Last year’s Super Bowl halftime show, headlined by Bruno Mars, attracted 115.3 million viewers.

NBC’s post-Super Bowl episode of The Blacklist on Sunday night averaged 26.5 million viewers. Later in the night, a new edition of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, featuring a lip-sync battle between host Jimmy Fallon and guests Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart, was seen by 9.834 million people.
