BOISE — Students at Eastern Idaho Technical College returned home as state champions this weekend.

Twelve students attended the Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference in Boise and won more than a dozen awards, including the state championship in team web design.

“I’m really proud of the web development students,” faculty adviser Julie Anderson said. “They put in a lot of time and hard work to develop these award winning sites (and) represented themselves amazingly at the conference.”

Additionally, two members of the EITC team were voted into leadership roles within the state BPA organization. Jay Snell and Glenn Davenport are the first EITC students to hold leadership positions in the organization.

Team Falcon competed in a variety of competitions including: Fundamentals of Web Design, Database Management, Integrated Office Concepts, Human Resources Management, Information Technology and Computer Networking.

Every member of the team managed to place in a competition at the event. EITC students were competing against other post-secondary students from Boise State University, Idaho State University, College of Southern Idaho and the College of Western Idaho.

The EITC team consisted of first and second year web development students. The team members are: Mathew Brown, Jason Mate, Nathan Sunderland, Ryan Wassom, and Shawn White, Johnathon Fisher, Jay Snell, Glenn Davenport, Levi Edwards, Sabrina Holman, Melissa Steinman, and Cameron Lott.

“This an outstanding accomplishment by our students,” EITC President Steve Albiston said. “It really shows the quality of students we have, the quality of programs (and) instruction that is provided for them. It is always interesting to see how we match up when we go across the state and go up against other college students from around the area.”
