Losses on Wall Street Despite Highest Number of Job Openings in 14 Years
Published at(NEW YORK) — The market fell on Tuesday, with all three major indices closing the session below their open, despite encouraging job news from the Labor Department.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 332.78, ending the day at 17,662.94.
The Nasdaq closed at 4,859.80, down 82.64, while the S&P 500 dropped 35.27 to 2,044.16.
The Department of Labor reported on Tuesday that there were five million job openings as of the end of January, slightly more than the end of December 2014. That figure is also the highest level since January 2001.
