Mccain Has No Regrets over Iran Letter; Kirk Surprised by Reaction
Published at(WASHINGTON) — Sen. John McCain told reporters Thursday that he does not regret signing Cotton’s Iran letter and placed the blame for the letter on President Obama.
“The president provoked it with his threat to veto any congressional legislation that required our ratification,” McCain, R-Arizona, said. “I don’t regret it at all. I’m glad I did it.”
McCain said the backlash to the letter is simply “a very clever move on the Democrats’ part […to] take attention away from the lousy deal.”
Meanwhile, Sen. Mark Kirk, R-Illinois, said that he was surprised by the reaction from both the White House and the Iranian regime, who he believed would ignore the letter.
