US Approves Additional Non-Lethal Military Aid to Ukraine
Published at(NEW YORK) — Vice President Joe Biden spoke with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on Wednesday to inform him that the U.S. will provide addition non-lethal military aid to Ukraine.
According to a readout of the call between Biden and Poroshenko, the vice president also passed along information regarding new sanctions on Russian-backed separatists and their supporters. A Defense Department spokeswoman said that President Obama approved $75 million in funding, continuing American efforts to sustain Ukraine’s defense and internal security.
The new aid will assist in Ukraine’s communications and surveillance, while also providing unmanned aerial vehicles, counter-mortar radars, first aid kits and medical supplies.
