Higher Earnings Reports Help Rebound Markets

tarabird/iStock/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) — The markets rebounded Monday on healthy earnings reports.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 18,034.93, up 208.63 from its open.
The Nasdaq rose by 62.79 to close just under the 5,000 mark at 4,994.60. The S&P 500 was up by 19.22, finishing the session at 2,100.40.
Hasbro was among the biggest gainers on Monday, after the toymaker reported earnings that were better than expected, thanks to sales of Transformers and other toys aimed at boys.
Morgan Stanley shares rose after a gain in trading revenue helped the bank beat profit forecasts.
Cirque de Soleil has signed a deal to sell a majority stake to U.S. private equity firm TPG for an undisclosed price. TPG is the world’s largest casino owner.
