After The New York Times reported Monday that the former Florida governor and potential 2016 presidential candidate identified himself as Hispanic in a 2009 Dade County voter registration application, Bush took to Twitter to react, saying it was a mistake.

But Twitter isn’t done with Bush after his social media mea culpa. Several parody accounts featuring Bush in a sombrero have popped up since the report.

Bush, who speaks fluent Spanish and married his high school sweetheart Columba after meeting her on a service trip to Mexico, spent time living and working in Venezuela before settling in Miami. He’s expected to use his background to woo Hispanic voters in a possible presidential run.
