Barcelona Wins Fifth La Liga Title in Seven Years

David Ramos/Getty Images(BARCELONA, Spain) — Lionel Messi’s second-half goal sealed the La Liga title for Barcelona, who defeated Atletico Madrid 1-0 at the Vicente Calderon on Sunday.
Barcelona dominated for the majority of the first half but it wasn’t until the 65th minute when Messi opened the scoring and eventually clinched the three points needed to seal their 23rd Spanish title with one game remaining on the season schedule.
Messi broke the tie after 65 minutes in what ended up becoming a defining moment for his side as they officially sealed the title.
The Argentina striker played a one-two pass with Pedro on the edge of the box before shooting at goal from close range into the bottom corner for the winner.
