"DANGEROUS DECEPTION," by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, $19, 293 pages (f) (ages 12 and up)

The last thing Wesley "Link" Lincoln can remember is a truck with a giant raven stamped on the side crashing into his beater. Ridley Duchannes and Link had just escaped a deadly fire at Club Sirene in New York City, only to be trapped in the flames of Link's car.

When Link comes to, Ridley is nowhere to be found, and the raven-stamped truck can only mean that Silas Ravenwood has taken her away in "Dangerous Deception," the sequel to "Dangerous Creatures."

Determined to save the girl he loves, Link seeks out the only person he knows who might know the location of Silas' labs — his old friend John Breed. Link, along with Necro, Sampson, Floyd and Nox of the Dangerous Creatures world, meet up with John Breed and Liv Durand from the Beautiful Creatures series to figure out how to find Silas and save Ridley.

Nox, however, is determined to find Ridley on his own. While she may have chosen Link over him, it hasn't stopped him from loving her, and he's not convinced that Link and his friends can save her. But the truth is, Nox isn't doing that good of a job saving Ridley himself.

After Nox sets off on his own, Link and his friends arrive in New Orleans, where they discover what Silas is doing in his labs with not only Ridley but also several other imprisoned girls. If they can't save Ridley soon, they may not be able to save her at all.

Authors Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl take "Dangerous Deception" to the next level, packing it with mystery, fast-paced action and a few familiar faces that fans are sure to love seeing again. "Dangerous Deception" marks the evolution of Ridley's and Link's characters in ways that fans won't be expecting but are sure to love.

"Dangerous Deception," which is set to be released May 19, introduces an exciting plotline for the rest of the series that will change the Caster world as fans know it.

"Dangerous Deception" does not contain any swearing, sexual content or explicit described violence.
