Idaho school kids learn about the wonders of water

IDAHO FALLS — More than 2,200 fifth and sixth graders from Shelley to Stanley are getting a first hand look at the wonders of water this week. The Greater Idaho Falls Water Festival is Wednesday and Thursday at Tautphaus Park and Gem State Power. The event is part of a state-wide observance of Water Awareness Week.

The two-day event will feature more than 20 activities focusing on water’s impact on our everyday lives. Wednesday events are held at the Tautphaus Park hockey shelter from 11:30 a.mm to 1:40 p.m. On Thursday events are also held at the Tautphaus Park hockey shelter and at the Gem State Power Plant from 9:20 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 1:40 p.m. This is the eighteenth year for the Idaho Falls event.

The Greater Idaho Falls Water Festival is sponsored by the Eastern Idaho Environmental Education Association along with local, state, and federal environmental and educational professionals.
